Our 2nd show was at Musideum, a store that sells unique world instruments and offers a performance space for musicians to showcase their talents. Ari described this concert as “magical,” and it truly was. We had a packed house, and were honored to have many of Meena’s extended family hear us perform for the first time. We would perform here again in a heartbeat (Thanks to owner Donald Quan for the photos).
Our final performance took place at Gallery 345, an art space that hosts live music in Toronto’s West End. One of our former instructors from New England Conservatory, John Greer, is now living in the area and came to hear us for the first time. He is a huge appreciator of folk music, as well as a vocal coach, accompanist, conductor, arranger and composer. He told us that our arrangements are “elegant,” which we really liked the sound of. Next we drove to Ottawa. On the way we stopped for food at The Big Apple; after all, what’s a road trip without tourist attractions? In Ottawa, we performed at Gigspace, a multipurpose space with an art gallery, teaching studios, and an intimate listening room. Our audience was a group of discerning listeners who warmly interacted with us during the show.
lot of people coming and going while we performed. However, the audience members that stayed enjoyed the show and were excited about our music and our mission. We met up with pianist Katherine Petersen (formerly of Boston) for dinner, and then headed home to Boston the next day, making a quick stop in Burlington, VT for American Flatbread Pizza. (If you haven’t tried it, it’s worth a drive.)

A few weeks ago, we adapted our program to work for preschoolers in order to perform through Horizons for Homeless. The kids were a fantastic audience, and it meant so much to bring music to children whose families are struggling.
